Clothing allowance

Effective December 1, 2024

If a skin medicine, prosthetic, or orthopedic device related to your service-connected disability damages your clothes, we may pay you $1,024.50 to replace the damaged clothes. This may be a one-time payment or we may pay this amount once a year.

Note: You’ll need to submit your application on or before August 1, 2025, to get a clothing allowance for this year.

VA special monthly compensation (SMC) is a higher rate of compensation that we pay to Veterans as well as their spouses, surviving spouses, and parents with certain needs or disabilities. Find the 2025 special monthly compensation rates that may apply to you.

Don’t give up!

Especially when it comes to service connection claims. The process can get beyond frustrating, and like many things in life they are banking on you giving up. But that’s not in our military vocabulary.

There are many different advocating groups out there. Some can be very helpful but finding the genuine ones can be a struggle too. That’s why I hope to give you the tools to not only assist you with the process, but also remind you that you are Brave, and you deserve the help and benefits you have earned.
